Duracell, owned by Warren Buffett's investment company Berkshire Hathaway, allegedly stole important research results related to lithium-ion battery technology as part of a cooperation agreement with BASF, according to a complaint filed in a Delaware federal court. The trade secrets stemmed from BASF's multi-year efforts to produce more cost-effective materials for high-performance batteries.
A Duracell spokesperson said in a statement that the company will vigorously defend itself against the "meritless lawsuit." "Duracell's innovative battery chemistry was developed through years of work and significant investment by our internal research and development team and is the subject of numerous Duracell patents," the statement read.” [1]
