“Vidmantas Janulevičius, chairman of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists (LPK), agreed that industrial companies should focus on the production of higher value-added products. “Industry is the backbone of the entire economy. Lithuania was different from Latvia and Estonia. Under the flag of the LPK, we create 41 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). Currently, the situation is difficult in the manufacturing industry, where about 200 thousand people are employed today. In terms of exports, this is 60 percent of all exports. But these are not high-value-added products. I don’t want to offend anyone, but we produce and export axe handles, etc. We cannot say that we will now suddenly switch from manufacturing to high-value-added products. This requires both time and investment,” V. Janulevičius assured.”
