A. Armonaitė spoke with Google's head of public policy about artificial intelligence

"Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of Economy and Innovation, and Giedrė Balčytytė, Chancellor of the Government, met on Monday with Google's public policy manager Karan Bhatia, who is visiting Lithuania. During the meeting, Lithuanian policy in the fields of artificial intelligence and security, its use and challenges were discussed.    

 

     The chancellor noted the importance of the Google platform and social networks for the dissemination of information, expression of opinion and civic activity.  

 

     The meeting drew attention to the problem of artificially promoted content, exploiting working algorithms, which makes identifying disinformation and responsible content moderation even more important.

 

     Google representatives introduced the activities in response to the events in Ukraine and the dissemination of related disinformation. G. Balčytytė presented Lithuania's actions in combating cases where disinformation activities have signs of acting against the state.   

 

     The need to expand the dialogue between governments and major platforms in order to deeply discuss and understand the changes brought about by the development of these technologies was discussed.

 

     A. Armonaitė and K. Bhatia discussed the use of artificial intelligence and related challenges.

 

     "I believe that Google's more active participation in the Lithuanian ecosystem can encourage even closer cooperation between business and science and further growth of the artificial intelligence sector," A. Armonaitė said in the ministry's announcement.

 

      The Ministry emphasizes that more than one project is being implemented in Lithuania, which will lay the foundations for the next generation of cyber, information and hybrid security. One of them is the National Information Impact Identification and Analysis System (NAAS), which is being developed by the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy together with other higher education institutions - an information monitoring, identification and detection system based on artificial intelligence.

 

     Also, since last year, the Communications Regulatory Authority has been using a solution based on artificial intelligence - an automated search tool that detects prohibited content on the Internet."

 

People waste their time in vain. Farts is the only topic that these representatives of Lithuania are interested in. In second place is the legalization of narcotics. Discussing artificial intelligence with them is like discussing the moon with pigs.
