“Nawrocki also drew a show of support at last week's first Poland meeting of the Conservative Political Action Committee, a U.S.-based conservative advocacy group that has expanded into Europe. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem started her speech saying Nawrocki "needs to be the next president of Poland."

 

While the president plays a largely ceremonial role, the victor will be able to veto legislation or recommend it to the Constitutional Court. Current President Andrzej Duda, who is also a backer of the Law and Justice Party, has done both, stymying the current ruling coalition and its Prime Minister Donald Tusk's moves to roll back the legacy of eight years of Law and Justice rule after winning in parliamentary elections in 2023.” [1]
