High Debts, Low Pay Take Luster Off Law School --- Graduates leave University of Miami and other good programs with six-figure loans

"Law school was once considered a surefire ticket to a comfortable life. Years of tuition increases have made it a fast way to get buried in debt.
Recent graduates of the University of Miami School of Law who used federal loans borrowed a median of $163,000. Two years later, half were earning $59,000 or less. That's the biggest gap between debt and earnings among the top 100 law schools as ranked by U.S. News & World Report, a Wall Street Journal analysis of federal data found.
Graduates from a host of other well-regarded law schools routinely leave with six-figure student loans, then fail to find high-paying jobs as lawyers, according to the Journal's analysis of the latest federal data on earnings, for students who graduated in 2015 and 2016.
When Miami students asked for financial assistance, some graduates told the Journal, school officials often offered this solution: Take more loans.
"I had no work experience, life experience, anything like that before I signed on to this quarter-million-dollar loan," said Dylan Boigris, a 2016 Miami Law graduate, who began his career making about $45,000 as a public defender. "I thought I would come out making much more than I did."
A law professor at the university, Anthony Alfieri, said law schools "foster this kind of cruel optimism" in students, letting them think six-figure salaries are attainable, when in reality, those high-paying jobs are largely reserved for students at only the top-ranked law schools. "Law schools encourage a kind of magical thinking in order to keep the lights on," he said." [1]
In Lithuania, conservatives and liberals have developed a similar system.

Regulators' Report Urges Stricter Watch Over Fintech Sector

“Calls are growing louder to impose more stringent regulation on technology giants that spill over into financial services.
A paper published by the Bank for International Settlements, a consortium of central banks and financial regulators, said tech companies that play a critical role in payments and other areas should be subject to stricter regulatory scrutiny that considers issues beyond traditional market risks.
Banks and insurers can be designated as systemically important. But regulations in most countries don't address the "potential (possibly global) systemic impact of big-tech operations and of possible spillover effects to the financial sector and across all of the activities that big techs perform," according to the report. Central banks should study the need for "specific safeguards" for big techs, the paper said.
Financial technology firms have grown in scale in recent years and have become important players in areas traditionally handled by banks, including processing payments through the financial system and providing credit to consumers and businesses.
Payments company Square Inc. on Sunday announced its biggest deal ever, to acquire Afterpay Ltd. in an all-stock deal valued at around $29 billion. Online transactions giant PayPal Holdings Inc. has an almost identical market value -- around $325 billion -- as Bank of America Corp., the U.S.'s second-largest bank by assets.
Fintechs are also commanding the attention of national authorities, which are struggling to rewrite regulatory landscapes in real time. Chinese financial-technology behemoth Ant Group Co. had its blockbuster initial public offering quashed last November by Beijing.
Apart from financial risks and consumer protection, the presence of the tech sector in financial services raises questions about data governance and antitrust matters, the paper said, which could lead to a "systemic footprint in the financial system."
Current rules in place to deal with issues such as credit and liquidity risk may fall short in regulating fintechs, the organization said, highlighting the need for central banks to work more closely with competition and data privacy government agencies.
The BIS, often called the central banks' central bank, coordinates development of consistent financial regulations around the world. While it lacks direct power to impose regulations, the BIS is considered an influential arbiter on issues of financial regulation.” [1]

The propaganda of the Lithuanian rulers changed to the opposite

Lukashenko is no longer a mad dictator, dangerous to himself and all those around him, who should be urgently removed from power by replacing the first-found chef. Lukashenko does not eat children. Lukashenko is a good president, so in his rule, Belarus is safe for everyone, including migrant women and children. Go and drive to Belarus, Lukashenko will treat you to boiled potatoes with sour milk. When the chef returns from Washington, we will catch her and give her to Lukashenko, proving that it is safe for everyone there.

Every migrant crossing the Lithuanian border without permission is no longer a freedom fighter with the inalienable right to seek asylum in Lithuania, who should be helped so that he does not break his leg when climbing over stumps at the border. Every migrant crossing the Lithuanian border without permission is a criminal whose crime is greater than murder. Therefore, all those screaming women and their screaming children need to be physically pushed from the territory of Lithuania to Belarus, telling them that if they are freedom fighters, let them stand in line at the Lithuanian Embassy in Minsk.

Now those women will conflict with our conscripts, trying to rip out the eyes of the conscripts, but this is no longer a problem of the Lithuanian rulers, but of those conscripts. They are to blame for not emigrating from Lithuania on time.

Here is how the new propaganda of Lithuanian rulers is presented in the language of bureaucrats:

"Ministry of the Interior: Illegal migrants will be turned around, directed to border crossings: On Monday, Minister of the Interior Agnė Bilotaitė allowed border guards to turn back illegal migrants going to Lithuania and direct them to border crossings or diplomatic missions. The decision instructed to oblige them to use legal means of crossing the border or to apply for asylum - to direct persons to the nearest functioning international border control point or diplomatic mission, ”the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) said in a statement. According to the Ministry, A. Bilotaitė, as the head of emergency operations, instructed “all institutions ensuring the protection of the state border of the Republic of Lithuania to additionally take all necessary measures established by law to protect the state border of the Republic of Lithuania and not to create preconditions for illegal entry into the territory of the Republic of Lithuania. crossing the border in prohibited areas".

Persons who intentionally attempt to cross the state border in prohibited areas must be considered as persons who intend to commit criminal activities.

"Officials of the State Border Guard Service are competent and experienced in applying tactical measures in such situations. The Lithuanian border must be protected by all legal means from any illegal crossing of the state border, as an instrument of the current hybrid aggression against Lithuania, ”the Minister of the Interior said in a press release. "Persons who intentionally try to cross the state border in prohibited places must be considered as persons who intend to commit a criminal activity - illegal crossing of the state border," she added. Presenting the solution on the LRT television show "Dienos Tema", A. Bilotaitė stated that international law allows the reversal of migrants if such a solution is temporary and if migrants are offered an alternative opportunity to apply for asylum. Minister's spokeswoman Lina Laurinaitytė-Grigienė told BNS that according to the latest decision, migrants will be able to be reversed both when they have already entered the territory of Lithuania and while they are still in Belarus. [1]

According to A. Bilotaitė, foreigners are invited to Belarus as a safe territory where no military conflicts take place.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, this means that a foreign citizen who has come to Belarus for tourism purposes and has received the services for which she has entered the country should leave as legally as she entered."

1. "This decision allowed border guards to use mental and physical violence against illegal migrants."

Anot ministerijos, A. Bilotaitė kaip ekstremaliosios situacijos operacijų vadovė pavedė „visoms institucijoms, užtikrinančioms Lietuvos Respublikos valstybės sienos apsaugą, papildomai imtis visų būtinų įstatymuose nustatytų priemonių, siekiant apsaugoti Lietuvos Respublikos valstybės sieną ir nesudaryti prielaidų į Lietuvos Respublikos teritoriją neteisėtai patekti asmenims, norintiems valstybės sieną kirsti draudžiamose vietose“.

1. "Šiuo sprendimu leista valstybės sieną saugantiems pareigūnams naudoti psichinę ir fizinę prievartą prieš neteisėtus migrantus."

According to economist Ž.Mauricas, the most dangerous thing for Lithuania would be to rely on the bureaucrats of the European Union, who, instead of solving the crisis of illegal migration, on the contrary, encourage it.

"First, by tolerating illegal migration, they support criminal groups involved in smuggling illegal migrants and supporting regimes in third countries (for example, by admitting illegal migrants, Lithuania indirectly supports the Belarusian regime and Belavia, which flies these migrants), and they cannot to stop after they taste the money.

Secondly, by tolerating illegal migration, EU bureaucrats are effectively putting EU migration policy in the hands of neighboring, often authoritarian, states. For example, currently it is not Lithuania but the Belarusian regime that decides how many, when and which people will immigrate to Lithuania.

Thirdly, by tolerating illegal migration, they encourage dangerous journeys by illegal migrants to the EU, which often result in death, such as drowning at sea, or human trafficking - a significant proportion of illegal migrants become victims of prostitution, trafficking and similar victims, or into the criminal world such as drugs transportation.

Fourth, by tolerating illegal migration, EU bureaucrats increase the shadow economy, crime and discrimination against people within the EU, as only about a third of illegal migrants who are denied refugee status are deported, mostly voluntarily because deportation is a particularly complex and expensive procedure. As a result, hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants are left in the EU without any documents, a source of income and opportunities to study, some of whom work illegally in appalling conditions.

Fifth, by tolerating illegal migration, EU bureaucrats encourage corruption, as feeding, housing, counseling and the like to illegal migrants is a good source of income for corrupt local bureaucrats, such as the infamous migrant camps in Greece. Thus, local bureaucrats also no longer have incentives to stop illegal migration, but, on the contrary, have incentives to continue it. Otherwise, they would lose their source of income,  according to Ž. Mauricas."

Mauricas."
